New criminal cases against Gulnara Karimova
“The Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan has opened new criminal cases against Gulnara Karimova on the theft of public funds and conclusion of transactions contrary to the interests of the Republic of Uzbekistan as well as seizing by extortion of other people’s property on especially large scale”, said the press service of the department.
The basis for initiating a criminal case was the materials of the audit, collected on the basis of information received from an international company, as well as applications from citizens. It was established that Gulnara Karimova, in collusion with other persons, acquired at a lower cost the state-owned share package of the joint-stock companies “Kuvasaycement” and “Bekabadcement”.
Then, G. Karimova sold the above shares to foreign entrepreneurs and patronized their subsequent illegal activities, which caused damage to the interests of the Republic on an especially large scale.
In addition, under the threat of violence, G. Karimova forced citizens and owners of various companies to transfer their property to the companies belonging to her.
In order to prevent attempts to impede the establishment of truth in the case, the remaining details were not disclosed.
Recall, the daughter of the first president of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, is serving a sentence in two criminal cases at the penal colony No.21 of Zangiata district of Tashkent region. She was found guilty of causing damage to the state in the total amount of about one billion US dollars.
