In Kyrgyzstan, Assistant of prosecutor was detained on receiving a bribe

A senior assistant of the Tokmok city prosecutor, in collusion with an employee of one of the large industrial enterprises, extorted $ 15.000 from a Kyrgyz citizen, threatening her with a criminal case against her husband, who is a Chinese citizen.

“Illegal acquisition of movable and immovable property in Kyrgyzstan became the reason for blackmail. At the same time, in case of failure to provide a bribe, the prosecutor threatened to transfer the allegedly available materials to the investigating authorities, with further deportation of the foreign citizen,” the State Committee for National Security of the Republic explained.

As a result of investigative and operational measures carried out jointly with the Internal Investigations Division of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Kyrgyzstan, when receiving part of the funds in the amount of $3000, the assistant of prosecutor was detained in the act. His accomplice, acting as a contact man in receiving a bribe, was also detained.

The detainees were placed in the temporary detention facility of the State Committee for National Security. Currently, relevant investigative and operational measures are being conducted.

The crime is registered in the Unified Register of Crimes and Misconduct under the Article 326 “Extortion of a bribe” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Under this article, officials are punished by imprisonment of up to 5 years with the deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with a fine of $3152.
