Nazarbaev’s daughter named the main sources of corruption
Dariga Nazarbaeva, the daughter of the first president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev, who is the speaker of the Senate, named the main sources of corruption in Kazakhstan.
According to her, the largest number of bribe takers is concentrated in such state bodies as the police, state universities and colleges, the court, the department of urban planning, the department of land relations, military registration and enlistment offices, the migration service, the department of employment and social protection, and state kindergartens.
In her speech, the head of the upper house of the Kazakhstan’s Parliament, based on studies of the level of corruption made by the international company Transparency International, also mentioned the main reasons that push citizens to commit corruption crimes.
“This is treatment and appointment, applying for a job, receiving and registering a land plot, placing a child in a kindergarten and even putting him in a waiting list (electronic queue). Violation of traffic rules, deferment from the army, closing and not issuing a fine, receiving childbirth allowance, entering university and receiving educational grant, receiving a medical certificate,” Nazarbaeva listed. “People just pay to make it all faster. Now we are actively engaged in the program “Digital Kazakhstan”. But this information indicates that not everything is ok.”
It should be noted that within the framework of the program “Digital Kazakhstan” in the Republic, 723 services provided by state bodies can be obtained in electronic form.
Recall, according to the study by the Public Fund “Transparency Kazakhstan”, the amount of bribes for informally resolving citizens’ issues in government of Kazakhstan varies from 1.3 to 1300 US dollars.
