The Prosecutor General office of Kyrgyzstan will consider the demand for the resignation of the Prosecutor General

A publication was posted on social networks under the headline “The statement to the President on dismissal of the Prosecutor General for hiding Raiymbek Matraimov was accepted by the Presidential office”. After examining the arguments of the lawyer, the supervisor reports that the statement of the lawyer Nurbek Toktakunov will be considered.

In order to ensure the principle of comprehensiveness when considering the appeal of Nurbek Toktakunov, his application was registered in the automated database of the General Prosecutor’s office and transferred to the Main Investigation Department of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic.

“The investigative unit of the State Committee for National Security is conducting pre-trial proceedings registered on June 25, 2019 on the grounds of a crime under the article 215 “Money laundering”, the reason for which was the publication of radio “Svoboda” on the fact of withdrawal of $700 million from various banks through Kyrgyzstan. The applicant’s arguments will be checked within the framework of the mentioned criminal case, about which Nurbek Toktakunov was informed in time,” the Prosecutor General’s office informs.

The Prosecutor General’s office emphasized that on their part this statement was not hidden from registration, and the requirements of the Criminal Procedure Code were not violated.

“In this connection, messages on social networks regarding concealment from registration of his statement indicate ignorance of the current legislation by Nurbek Toktakunov, and are aimed at discrediting state bodies in whole; this misleads the public,” the Department concluded.

Recall that the published joint journalistic investigation of radio “Svoboda”, Kloop and OCCRP on customs corruption and the withdrawal of $700 million from the Kyrgyz Republic, in which the name of the former deputy head of the Kyrgyz Customs Service is mentioned, caused a wide public outcry.
