Kyrgyzstan: convicted policeman got a new position
Convicted police lieutenant Nurbolot Kurbanov, who previously worked as an operational officer of the Department of Internal Affairs of Aksy district, was transferred to the district police officer of the city of Tash-Kumyr. This is reported by the human rights movement “Justice”.
He was transferred to a new place of work on June 5, and currently, the policeman is on sick leave.
“We were surprised by the fact that only recently, more precisely, on May 22, the District court of Aksy passed a sentence on this employee under the article “Hooliganism” and sentenced him to 5 years. True, he was immediately amnestied in honor of the “75th anniversary of the Victory and the 10th anniversary of the April Revolution”. The other three participants in this high-profile case of beating a man at one of petrol stations in Kerben received a similar punishment,” human rights activists explained.
Moreover, according to the information of the human rights movement “Justice”, a 22-year-old resident of Aksy said that this police officer used torture against him in 2016, but even then he managed to avoid punishment.
“How can an officer, who discredited the honor of uniform, be transferred to a new place of work? How, despite the verdict of the court, wasn’t he suspended from work? And what guides the police leadership when making such a decision? Is there really such a shortage of personnel in the police or is he an irreplaceable employee?” human rights activists asked.
Earlier, the organization was outraged by the fact that Nurbolot Kurbanov wasn’t even removed from work during the investigation.
Earlier, ACCA wrote that the police officers, who had brutally beaten a man at the petrol station in the city of Kerben, were amnestied in the courtroom.
