In Uzbekistan, a resident of Ferghana died as a result of torture in a detention center

A resident of Ferghana region, Abdurazzak Kadyrov, convicted of disorderly conduct, was beaten for a week and brought home in serious condition, where he died an hour later. Another case of death after beating in a temporary detention center was recorded by journalists of the radio “Svoboda” [“Liberty”].

The medical examination showed that the body has many traces of beatings and hematoma. The most severe injuries were the head injury, damage of cervical vertebrae and broken ribs.

According to experts, this became possible after being struck with a “blunt solid object”. In the local Emergency medical center, journalists were told that the medical team was called for Abdurazzak Kadyrov 3 times during the period from September 12-18.

According to one version, he was beaten by police operatives of the department of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan region in order to achieve some new confessions. The representative of the Prosecutor’s office later confirmed that it was not the prison staff who mocked at Kadyrov.

The officers, who brought the dying man home, clumsily tried to make the sudden deterioration in his health condition the cause of the early release of Abdurazzak Kadyrov. They didn’t know that under a government decree, medical organizations were prohibited from denying the provision of emergency and urgent medical care to persons in a condition that is in danger to life or health.

The Prosecutor’s office of Ferghana region launched an investigation into the death of Abdurazzak Kadyrov.
