In Kyrgyzstan, colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was detained for extortion

A Kyrgyz citizen addressed to the State Committee for National Security with a request to take measures against an employee of the Anti-Drug Trafficking Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the city of Bishkek, who extorted money from her.

The woman said that the police colonel demanded from her $3000 for a positive decision of the materials of the criminal case against her husband, on the fact of a previously initiated criminal case.

Based on the collected materials, the State Committee for National Security registered pre-trial proceedings on the grounds of crime under Article 326 of Part 1 “Extortion of a bribe” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

As a result of the measures taken, on November 23, the police colonel, the head of the Department of the Security Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was caught red-handed while receiving part of the extorted sum in the amount of $715 (50 000 KGS).

During the detention of the police colonel, he attempted to escape from the scene of the crime, consequently the applicant has been knocked down by his car. As a result of the persecution, the colonel was detained by the operational investigation team. At the same time, an ambulance team was called to the scene of the accident, which hospitalized the applicant in the city hospital, and her condition was assessed as stable.

Currently, the detainee is placed in the temporary detention center of the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic. Corresponding investigative and operational measures are being carried out.
