In Kazakhstan, 6 judges will be dismissed for violation of laws
The Supreme Judicial Council of Kazakhstan recommended the dismissal of 29 judges. As noted in the message, at the meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), they considered seven appeals of judges who dissatisfied with disciplinary proceedings and wished to appeal against these decisions of the judicial jury.
“The members of the Council, following the discussion, came to the conclusion that the decisions of the judicial jury were justified, and voted to leave them in force. Thus, one of the judges received a reprimand, other six were recommended for dismissal of judges’ position for committing violations of the law in court cases, as well as for committing an offense contrary to judicial ethics. In addition, the SJC recommended that another 23 judges be dismissed,” the Ministry said.
It should be noted that 13 of 23 mentioned judges leave the judicial post due to their retirement, one in connection with their retirement, another four will be transferred to other courts. Four judges resigned of their own free will, and another one asked to be relieved of his post as a judge in connection with his transfer to another job.
Meanwhile, the decision was made in Almaty concerning the case of the former judge of the Medeu District Civil Court, Gulmira Abilkair.
According to the Anti-Corruption Agency, the ex-judge was accused of receiving a bribe of $3000 from the required $10 000 for a positive decision in a civil case related to delimitation of the land. The judge was caught red-handed while receiving money through an intermediary, the secretary of the same court, Rakyshov.
The ex-judge was sentenced to a fine of more than $117 000 by the verdict of the district court No.2 of Medeu district, and the former court secretary Rakyshov received two years in prison. In addition, by the court decision, both of the defendants in this case are forbidden for life to hold positions in the public service.
Recall that at the end of October in Almaty, the judge of Auezov district court No.2, Andrei Shteinke, was also convicted. By the verdict of the court of appeal of the Almaty City Court, Shteinke received 3.5 years in prison.
