Uzbekistan: The press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs again scolded the people

The press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Shokhrukh Giesov in the news release again criticized the population of the country, in whose eyes the reputation of law enforcement agencies is at a low level.

According to the online media Habar.uz, the officer staged a small variety show, reacting to the opinion of the people about the Ministry with the words ‘only jackals and lizards curse the police’.

In time, Giesov’s speech coincided with an attack by a district police officer on a woman in Chilanzar district of Tashkent. During the filming by a resident, an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs began to threaten her and then hit her. The incident occurred on April 9 during another illegal construction site.

In the country, the Ministry of Internal Affairs intends to prohibit the publication of photo and video materials on the Internet about the activities of traffic police officers on duty without their consent. The Ministry has developed a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, the public discussion of which was completed at the end of March.

Earlier, ACCA wrote about how Shokhrukh Giesov got off with a reprimand from the Minister of the MIA. The press secretary spoke of those who died after being tortured by law enforcement agencies as ‘goddamned people’, drunkards and hooligans.

In an unofficial statement to journalists, he commented on the death after beatings of Nursoat Mukhammadiev from Kashkadarya region, Khasan Khushmatov from Surkhandarya region and Bakhtiyar Dauletmuratov from Karakalpakstan.

The use of misanthropic rhetoric has become commonplace for Giesov. In January 2020, after another tragedy with torture in the police department of Chirakchi district of Kashkadarya region, information about which was published by ACCA, Giesov said that ‘the death of a person in the department is not new; it’s natural, it happened before’.
