Turkmenistan introduced new burial policy after ACCA publication

After the publication of ACCA about the mass death of people in the city of Balkanabad and satellite filming of the city cemetery, the authorities of Turkmenistan began to demand from citizens to bury their relatives in a way that the graves could not be seen from the satellite.

Let us recall, on July 24, ACCA published an article about the critical situation with medicines and medical masks in Balkanabat. According to the doctors, the hospitals got an order from the Ministry of Health that all antiviral drugs, stocks of medical masks, several lung ventilators should be urgently sent to Ashgabat.

Our source close to the Health Department of the Balkan velayat said that 5,000 people in Balkanabat were tested for COVID-19. As a result, more than 2000 tests were positive.

An ACCA source said that from the beginning of March to the present day, over 1,300 people died from COVID-19 in Balkanabat. We have verified this information with Google. The history of Google maps shows that from May 31, 2018 to March 25, 2020, 524 people died in Balkanabat. The map shows the growth of new graves. Meanwhile, from March 25, 2020, to April 16, 2020 alone, appeared 317 graves. It turns out that during this period, on average, 14 people died per day.

Our colleagues from Radio Svoboda, citing their sources, reported that after ACCA publication, the authorities of Turkmenistan began to put forward new requirements for burials in the country.

“In particular, in the Lebap velayat, local authorities prohibit the population from attending funerals, and demanded that the graves be inconspicuous, flat and unmarked from the loved ones of the dead,” Radio Svoboda reports. – Now the number of graves in cemeteries is 15 times more than last year. Now people are required to bury so that the graves are flat and cannot be seen from satellites. It is forbidden to put tombstones or other identification marks. People cannot go to funerals and memorials “.

On July 28, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that WHO is urging Turkmenistan to activate critical measures to prepare for the COVID-19 outbreak.

Authorities of Turkmenistan have not yet officially recognized the presence of COVID-19, while the population is obliged to go out in masks, and many shopping centers and markets are closed.
