Turkmenistan: family of a serving sentence activist evicted from home

The family of human rights defender Mansur Mingelov, who is in critical condition in the LB / K11 colony, has been illegally evicted from the house in which they have lived for about 30 years, according to independent media in Turkmenistan.

The father of the human rights activist Usen Mingelov was sent a notification signed by the director of the dekhkan association “Turkmenistan” V. Atadzhikov. The notice instructed to vacate the occupied premises since the premises and land plot are not registered with the association and are not suitable for further residence. The Mingelov family is not provided with any other housing. In 1991, the Mingelov family was allocated a room in a former school and 8 acres of adjacent territory as housing, but the family was never given the appropriate documents for it.

Usen Mingelov asked the director Atadzhikov, who signed the eviction notice, for clarification. The director of the association said that hwas following the order which came from the top. Atadzhikov also failed to explain why only the Mingelovs were evicted from the building. A few days later, other residents living in the building received eviction notices.

At the moment, the activist Mansur Mingelov has been transferred to the medical unit of the colony and is in grave condition. His leg, broken during arrest, is rotting. There are no medicines in the medical unit, and relatives are not allowed to provide them. Recently, officers of the Ministry of National Security came to the colony to Mingelov and filmed him, he was also offered to sign a frank confession and ask the president for a pardon, to which Mingelov categorically refused.

Mansur Mingelov does not admit his guilt and insists on his innocence.
