About 100 people have been detained over the past week in the capital of Turkmenistan, whose rights are grossly violated by employees of the Ministry of National Security during the investigation.
A special operation is underway in Ashgabat and its outskirts to detain drug dealers, couriers and people who use drugs directly.
According to ACCA sources, the detainees are placed in the temporary detention facility “Zhitnikovo” in the city of Ashgabat. The detainees are interrogated under torture, several of them were tortured and beaten. Among the detainees are police officers, officials, musicians, pop stars and employees of the state television and radio broadcasting of Turkmenistan.
The investigation is being conducted by investigators from the Ministry of National Security. The detainees are kept in basements, still have no lawyers and are not allowed to inform their relatives of their location. Our sources said that some did manage to tell relatives where they were.
Interrogations are carried out several times a day, during which the interrogated are not allowed to go to the toilet and are not given water. No examinations are carried out on the detainees, there is no evidence of outdoor video surveillance, none of the detainees was washed off their hands for the presence of narcotic substances, all frank confessions are beaten out by investigators.
The special operation began on January 30 and continues to this day. This situation is not commented on by the authorities and the media of Turkmenistan.
