The President of Kyrgyzstan: I will always stand for freedom of speech

In our country, there is freedom of speech. If we compare the situation with other countries, our journalists say and write what they want. This was announced at the annual press conference by the President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov.

“During my presidency, I did not call any of the journalists and did not say to write something or not to write. No one is putting pressure on the media. I remember very well when I ran for president, some media wrote that I was a radical Islamist. I even wrote a statement about this, but then withdrew. I realized that these materials were related to the election campaign,” Jeenbekov said.

The head of state emphasized that he always defended the press and freedom of speech in Kyrgyzstan.

“Another matter is that freedom of speech is responsibility. Unfortunately, not all journalists are aware of this. The most important thing is the rule of law, regardless of whether a person is the President or journalist,” the President emphasized.
