The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan: there is no ban on the word “coronavirus”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan spread a statement refuting information about a ban on the word “coronavirus”.
“Turkmenistan has repeatedly turned to the Russian side in connection with attempts by some Russian media to mislead public opinion by disseminating false information about the situation in Turkmenistan. At the same time, the Turkmen side, through diplomatic channels and through official communications, expressed its serious concern and pointed out the inadmissibility of such actions, and also demanded the adoption of effective measures to put an end to such slanderous attacks,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan emphasizes that false news about Turkmenistan continues to appear in the Russian media. “Evidence of this is the material, distributed on March 31, 2020 through the channels of the International Information Agency “Russia Today”, about the alleged ban on the use of the word “coronavirus” in Turkmenistan. In this regard, the Turkmen side declares the following: “Such messages are absolutely untrue. Unlike the methods of interaction between the state and society, adopted in other countries of the world, including Russia, there is no practice of any prohibitions in Turkmenistan. These are the visible achievements of the balanced policy of the respected President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.
The press release notes that the result of this act of social unity in Turkmenistan is not a single recorded case of dangerous infection with this virus or even suspicions of it.
“In due time, in a similar way, Turkmenistan was able to effectively confront such destructive challenges of the modern world as poverty, unemployment, drug addiction, prostitution, domestic violence and AIDS,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted. “Based on the foregoing, Turkmenistan expresses confidence that the Russian side, using the entire arsenal of legal means and methods stipulated by the legislation of Russia, will take the necessary actions to stop such propaganda actions and take the necessary measures against envious persons who allow unfriendly steps in relation to a stable, secure and prosperous state of Turkmenistan.”
Recall that earlier the international organization “Reporters without borders” also reported on the ban on the word “coronavirus” introduced in Turkmenistan.
