Tajikistan: son of Emomali Rahmon officially became the second person in the state

Deputies of the upper house of the Parliament of Tajikistan unanimously elected the son of the incumbent President, Rustami Emomali, as their speaker.

Earlier metropolitan deputies also unanimously voted for Rustami Emomali, whose candidacy was proposed as a member of the upper house of the Parliament of Tajikistan.

Rustami Emomali is the mayor of the capital of Tajikistan, and in 2017, he was elected as a deputy of the capital Duma.

According to the article 71 of the Constitution of Tajikistan, in the event of resignation, recognition as incompetent or the death of the president, his duties until the inauguration of newly elected president are transferred to the chairman of the upper house of the Parliament.

In 2006-2009, Rustami Emomali worked as the chief specialist of the department of cooperation with the World Trade Organization under the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan.

In 2009, he took the post of Acting Head of the Entrepreneurship Support Directorate in the State Committee for Investment and State Property Management of Tajikistan, and a few months later, in June 2009, Rustami Emomali was appointed Head of this department.

In 2010, he took the post of deputy chairman of the Youth Union of Tajikistan, and in 2011, he moved to the State Investment Committee, where he worked on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.

In 2012, Rustam became the president of the Football Federation of Tajikistan (FFT), and he retains this post to this day.

In 2011, he was transferred to the Tajik Customs Service as head of the Office for the fight against customs violations. In 2013, he headed the entire department, and in November of the same year, he received the rank of major general.

After that, he headed the Agency for State Financial Control and Anti-Corruption.
