Tajikistan: Prosecutor’s office covers up for the criminal who raped a 12-year-old girl

Human rights activist and politician Rakhmatillo Zoyirov made an open statement to the Prosecutor general and Interior Minister to take control of the story of a 12-year-old girl who gave birth to a child after repeated rape.

The employees of the Prosecutor’s office and internal affairs bodies of the city of Gissar are harboring the committed crimes or are inactive when it is concern of their friends or relatives,” the human rights activist said. “Moreover, they threaten the relatives of the victims of these crimes that they are in power in this city, “Go, complain wherever you want, but you won’t get anything.”

Zoyirov said that in 2019, citizen Khusniddin Abdulloev raped a neighboring 12-year-old girl, Sumaya Zaripova, in the cowshed. “By threatening and taking advantage of the helplessness of the girl, he has raped her more than once,” the human rights activist emphasized. “Finally, the girl was forced to say this to her parents. However, Khusniddin Abdulloev kept them from submitting an application by threats.”

According to Zoyirov, after some time, realizing that the girl was pregnant, the parents went to the Prosecutor’s office and the Department of internal affairs, but their application was not accepted. “Moreover, covering the accused, they threatened with grave consequences,” the human rights activist emphasizes. “Two months ago, the girl gave birth, and all these two months, they continue to put pressure on the girl and her parents to solve everything peacefully and without consequences.”

Rakhmatillo Zoyirov also noted that this is not the first case of rape of minors, and very often, through acquaintances and relatives, by giving bribes, accused of rape evade legal liability.

Rape is a bonus to a bribe

At the same time, another rape scandal became known. Sharifkhon Murodov, the officer of military unit No.0123, was detained on charges of extortion. According to the press service of the Agency for State Financial Control and Anti-Corruption of the republic, in February of this year, Murodov demanded $3000 from a citizen for early release from the service of her brother. “After receiving money, the officer made an appointment with the woman at the hotel, and took advantage of her defenseless state and raped her,” the Agency said.

A criminal case has been instituted against Murodov under part 1 of article 391 (“Abuse of power or official position”) and under part 2 of article 247 (“Fraud”) of the Criminal Code of Tajikistan.
