Tajikistan: journalist was beaten by unknown people for the second time in a month
The independent media journalist of Asia-plus, Abdullo Gurbati, was again beaten by unidentified assailants.
On May 29, the journalist traveled to Khuroson district to talk with villagers who were affected by mudflows. As the editorial office of Asia-plus reports, as soon as Abdullo Gurbati approached the tent camp, where residents, whose houses were destroyed, temporarily live, unidentified people arrived in a car and began to beat the journalist.
Recall that on May 17, the residents of Khuroson district blocked the road connecting the south of the country with the capital, and presented the authorities with an ultimatum that they would not open the road until the authorities help them eliminate the consequences of mudflows. Law enforcement authorities violently dispersed the protesters, and began to persecute and arrest the organizers of the rally.
The law enforcement authorities of Khatlon oblast took the beating of the journalist of Asia-plus under their control and have already begun to search for the attackers.
On May 11, the journalist Abdullo Gurbati was beaten by two unknown people in the evening near his home. Masked assailants, without explanation, began to beat the journalist, and when he started screaming, they hid in an unknown direction. Abdullo Gurbati reached the hospital by himself, however, due to quarantine, several medical institutions refused to see him. Only in the third hospital, the journalist was accepted and provided medical assistance.
A criminal case was opened on the fact of the attack, but the attackers have not been detained to date, despite the presence of videos that recorded the criminals.
