Tajikistan: 173 officials misappropriated state funds – no one is terminated

During the first half of the year, 513 criminal cases were initiated in Tajikistan on the facts of illegal transactions with land plots. 3248 officials and citizens were brought to administrative responsibility. 3248 officials and citizens were brought to administrative responsibility. Prosecutor General Yusuf Rahmon announced this during a press conference. About 6.3 thousand hectares of illegally allocated land was returned to land use. The Prosecutor General also said that during this period more than 600 decisions of the heads of cities and regions of the country on the illegal allocation of land were challenged.

Among them was the former mayor of the city of Kulyab, who is suspected of taking bribes worth about $ 40,000 for the allocation of land. Prosecutor of Khatlon region Abdurahim Rakhimzoda said during a press conference that Bahrom Inoyatzod, being the mayor of Kulyab, received 12 bribes through his subordinates. A criminal case has been opened against him under Article 319 (Taking a bribe) of the Criminal Code of Tajikistan.

Let us remind you that the former mayor of Kulyab was detained on June 8. Earlier, on May 27, on suspicion of fraud, the driver of Inoyatzoda’s official car, Khurramov Khursandali, and on June 3, the head of the reception office of the city head Kurbanov Firuz Davlatkhodjaevich were arrested on suspicion of fraud.

The arrest of Inoyatzoda is associated with his tough speech against the head of the Communications Service and the matchmaker of the President of Tajikistan, Beg Sabur. Recall that in February of this year, the former mayor at a meeting with reporters said that the Komil-2010 company, which belongs to Beg Sabur’s son, owed about $ 400,000 to the tax authorities, and is not going to pay it off. Inoyatzoda promised to cut off the water and electricity supply to the company’s construction sites. As a result, Inoyatzoda was arrested, and the company of the president’s matchmaker did not pay off its tax debts.

Meanwhile, on July 16, the head of the Accounts Chamber of Tajikistan, Karakhon Chillazoda, told reporters that since the beginning of the year, 173 officials have been brought to justice in the country for embezzlement of state funds.

However, as it turned out, all the officials were brought only to disciplinary responsibility, and none of them was even fired from their jobs.
