Since the beginning of the year, 8 more people were subjected to torture in Kyrgyzstan
From January to March of the current year, member organizations of the Coalition against Torture received 8 complaints about the use of torture and cruel treatment. This is stated in the review of the human rights organization.
It is noted that all appeals are in record keeping; 4 of them are at the trial stage, 3 are registered in the Unified Register of Crimes and Misconducts.
“According to the examined complaints, torture and cruel treatment can be called the main violation of human rights. The most common torture methods are beatings with various objects, suppression, psychological pressure,” human rights activists say.
According to the study, the main age group of victims is people from 20 to 48 years old.
“Most often, torture was used to obtain confession, as a punishment for certain actions or as restraint,” the Coalition against Torture emphasized.
The complaints were against law enforcement officials, the SCNS, the State Penitentiary Service, the military garrison, the police department and the internal affairs department.
