Prosecutor General of Kyrgyzstan was accused of hiding facts and obstructing justice
In Kyrgyzstan, relatives of Melis Kalykov, the main suspect in the murder of Prosecutor of Batken oblast Anarbai Mamazhakypov, accuse Prosecutor General Otkurbek Dzhamshitov of hiding the facts and obstructing justice.
At the initiative of relatives of Melis Kalykov, the prosecutor general of Kyrgyzstan, Otkurbek Dzhamshitov, was called to court to testify, but he ignores subpoenas. ACCA was informed about this by the sister of the defendant Damir Kalykov.
“Judge Jolbors Kudayarov, who is running our case, refuses to call more than 70 witnesses! These are the very first criminalists and experts who were directly at the crime scene. These employees are mainly from Batken. They lie every time that they go to the process and do not arrive. We are forced to inform them ourselves,” said the sister of the defendant.
According to her, Judge Kudayarov takes no action to interrogate witnesses. And in one of the last conversations, he even said that to look for and invite witnesses to the court is the problem of the defendant’s relatives.
“This is the second time, I myself have informed the prosecutor general Dzhamshitov that he should appear in court, since he was at the crime scene. He saw everything and my battered, tormented brother. He is one of the main witnesses, but he ignores our notices, so I blame him for hiding the facts and obstructing justice,” said Damira Kalykova.
Melis Kalykov’s lawyers insist that the prosecutor general be forcibly brought to the court concerning the case of murder of Batken oblast’s prosecutor Anarbai Mamazhakypov.
Sister of Melis Kalykov added that she has a valid reason to suspect that they want to judge her brother without unwanted witnesses, NGOs and the media.
Recall that earlier ACCA wrote that the head of the capital construction department of Batken region, Melis Kalykov, was accused of the murder of prosecutor Anarbai Mamazhakypov. According to the investigation, the man killed the regional prosecutor on the hunt. However, relatives of the defendant and the lawyers have reasons to suspect that relatives of the first persons in Kyrgyzstan were involved in the murder of the prosecutor.
