Police taxi appeared in Turkmenistan

According to independent media in Turkmenistan, Police officers have completely excluded private taxi drivers and began to provide taxi services to the population.

Due to the coronavirus, intercity rail, bus, and air services were completely stopped in the country. Taxi drivers, who were carrying out intercity transportation, also lost their jobs. And the police officers immediately took an opportunity.

For example, the policemen of Mary take passengers to the city of Tejen, and another policeman picks them up from Tejen and brings them to Ashgabat without any problems. Police charge 350 manats (about $ 100) for transporting one passenger. You need to pay once at the taxi departure point and in this case you don’t need PCR test (the certificate costs about $ 30). Also, you don’t need to go through any commissions, all problems are solved by the police drivers themselves. If, nevertheless, the car is stopped at the checkpoint, then the police officer’s card will solve this problem. Some residents try to get to their cities by trucks carrying food, agricultural products, etc.

According to the police officers, the quarantine restrictions will not be lifted soon due to the fact that the current situation is very beneficial for government officials and brings them huge profits. It’s worth recalling that the government of Turkmenistan has not yet recognized the presence of coronavirus in the country.
