Official suspected of corruption put on the wanted list
On August 5, the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan announced that the ex-Head of the State Registration Service Alina Shaikova is in the official retrieval.
The press service of the State Committee for National Security reported that Shaikova ignored the interrogation calls, being one of the defendants in the criminal case concerning the international passports’ tender.
“The Prosecutor General Office issued a notice of suspicion of committing a crime under the article “Corruption” against Shaikova,” the State Committee for National Security informs.
It will be recalled that in the autumn of 2018, the State Registration Service announced a tender for making international passports. Initially, the cost of the work was $17.1 million. However, as a result of the tender, the German company Mühlbauer ID Services GMBH proposed to implement the project for a price almost half the original price for $9.8 million. Despite this, the Lithuanian company Garsu Pasaulis was chosen as the winner. The cost of its services is $3.6 million higher. In this connection, the State Committee for National Security suspects that at that time the current Head of the State Registration Service Alina Shaikova lobbied not for free the interests of the Lithuanian contractor.
