“National Alliance of Tajikistan” was declared as extremist organization
“Since August 15, 2019, the National Alliance of Tajikistan (NAT) has been declared as an extremist and terrorist organization in Tajikistan,” the website of the Supreme Court of Tajikistan reports.
“The Prosecutor General’s Office of Tajikistan proposed to declare NAT as an extremist organization, and the Supreme Court granted this request,” the press service of the Supreme Court said.
Recall that the National Alliance of Tajikistan was formed a year ago in Poland. It consists of four opposition groups: the Islamic Renaissance party, banned in Tajikistan, “Congress of Free-Mind of Tajikistan”, “Reform and Development of Tajikistan”, and “Central Asian Migrants Congress”.
Almost all members of the National Alliance are Tajik citizens who left the country as a result of political persecution by the authorities. NAT activists have repeatedly sharply criticized the Tajik authorities regarding violations of citizens’ rights, torture, and unlawful persecution.
The leader of NAT is Muhiddin Kabiri – the chairman of the Islamic Renaissance party, which is also declared as terrorist in Tajikistan.
“All sites that cooperate with NAT in Tajikistan are blocked, and the distribution of their materials is prohibited,” the press service of the Supreme Court said. “The import and distribution of audio-video materials, newspapers, literature and newsletters of this organization in Tajikistan is prohibited.”
