Kyrgyzstan wants to abolish the Financial Police

Kyrgyzstan proposes to liquidate the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes, and transfer its functions to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This information was confirmed by the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes.

Currently, the presidential office is developing a relevant document to abolish the department and transfer its functions to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Meanwhile, veterans of the Financial Police, who opposed the new reform, turned to the public.

“Over the eight years of the Department’s work, since 2012, the country’s budget was replenished by $ 129.5 million (11 billion KGS). At the same time, it’s necessary to take into account that $ 1.5 million (131.2 million KGS) was provided for the maintenance of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes from the republican budget for 2020. This indicates a very high profitability of the body (every year, at least 10-fold),” the veterans of the Service note.

They also note a number of possible negative consequences, including an increase in corruption and the burden on business, as well as a sharp decline in indicators of damage compensation and budget replenishment.

“At the moment, in order to quickly respond to the needs of society, on the contrary, the Financial Police needs to be strengthened. In addition, it seems expedient to raise its status,” they conclude.

It’s worth adding that it’s proposed to include the State Registration Service, the state enterprise “Unaa”, the State Penitentiary Service, and the forensic expert service in the Ministry of Justice. It’s also proposed to abolish the State Tax and Customs Services and transfer their functions to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
