Kyrgyzstan: State Committee for National Security conducts a series of high-profile arrests
In Kyrgyzstan, the first deputy head of the government apparatus and the head of the regional department of the Ministry of Transport were detained. This was reported by the press service of the State Committee for National Security.
Azamat Araev was detained on the fact of corruption on the part of officials of certain state bodies and the government apparatus when concluding a deal on the purchase and sale of radio frequencies and reissuing a license for their use
“On December 15, within the framework of this case, in accordance with Article 98 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Kyrgyzstan, the head of the Department of Defense, Law Enforcement and Emergencies with the rank of first deputy chief of government apparatus Azamat Araev was detained and placed in the temporary detention center of the State Committee for National Security,” the State Committee said.
Recall that at the beginning of this year, Ala-TV company sold part of its business asset, including the right to use frequencies, to the country’s largest mobile operator Beeline. The lawyers argued that the transaction was carried out in accordance with the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic. However, the State Committee for National Security began pre-trial proceedings on this fact. As a result, to date, employees of Ala-TV and the former director of the State Communications Agency Natalya Chernogubova have been detained. In addition, ex-Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev was also accused of lobbying the interests of a foreign operator.
Moreover, on December 16, the State Committee for National Security detained the head of the regional bureau of the Department of road facilities under the Ministry of Transport.
He is suspected of abuse of office. It was established that during the implementation of the project for the construction of the bridge, he caused material damage to the state in the amount of more than $ 204.5 thousand (17 million KGS).
The detainee was placed in the temporary detention center of the internal affairs body in Naryn.
