Kyrgyzstan: SCNS is dissatisfied with acquittal of capital’s ex-mayor Tyuleev

The State Committee for National Security has called the Supreme Court’s ruling against the former high-ranking official controversial.

It’s clarified that in the period from 2012 to 2016, the court issued a verdict against the ex-mayor of Bishkek Nariman Tyuleev and other persons on the facts of corruption in the purchase of buses and garbage trucks. At the same time, Tyuleev compensated the damage to the state in the amount of more than $ 1.6 million.

However, in early February of this year, the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic overturned all convictions against Tyuleev, and the criminal case was sent for new consideration to the court of Lenin district of the capital.

“We consider it necessary to draw public attention to the ambiguous decision of the judicial authorities regarding Nariman Tyuleev on the fact of corruption when he was mayor of Bishkek. In this regard, we would like to emphasize the importance of observing the principle of inevitability of punishment in cases of this category, where the state suffers damage on an especially large scale,” the State Committee for National Security emphasizes.
