Kyrgyzstan: officials of the Ministry of Social Development caused damage to the state in the amount of $ 176,000

The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic revealed the fact of the purchase of wheelchairs by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic at overstated prices during the pandemic.

It was established that during the pandemic the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic purchased 522 wheelchairs at $ 670 (57,000 KGS) per each; the total amount was $ 338.2 thousand (28 million 754 thousand KGS). At the same time, the actual market price of one wheelchair was $ 176 (15,000 KGS).

“By their actions, officials of the Ministry of Social Development caused damage to the state budget in the amount of more than $ 176,000 (15 million KGS). On this fact, the head of the public procurement sector of this ministry was detained and placed in the temporary detention center of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic. He was charged under the article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic ‘Conclusion of a deliberately unfavorable contract’,” the State Committee said.

Currently, investigative and operational measures are being taken to establish all those, who were involved in this case.
