Kyrgyzstan: head of Southwest customs was detained for corruption

He is suspected of organizing a stable corruption scheme at customs with the aim of illicit enrichment. Currently, he is placed in the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security. This was reported by the press service of the Department.

The head of the Southwest customs, Nurbek Aitmamatov, was detained on suspicion of illegal enrichment. According to the investigation, Aitmamatov, using his official position, organized a corruption scheme at the Southwest customs office for inaccurate declaration and “false transit” of goods.

“Illegally obtained money Nurbek Aitmamatov legalized through the acquisition of a large number of movable and immovable property. In particular, he bought more than 30 elite apartments worth about $ 4.5 million, more than 10 vehicles for another $ 1 million. The official legalized part of the shadow income through construction companies in which he has a stake,” the State Committee for National Security reports.
