Kyrgyzstan: ex-head of daughter company of Manas airport was detained in corruption case
Former head of Manas Management Asan Toktosunov was detained in Bishkek. The journalists were informed about this in law enforcement agencies.
Toktosunov is suspected of involvement in the creation of a corruption scheme at Manas International Airport for the provision of benefits to the Turkish company “GATA HAVAYOLLARIVE TAŞIMACILIK A.Ş” for the cargo service of international flights.
According to the investigation, the corruption scheme for granting privileges to a foreign company for cargo service of international flights was carried out through CJSC Manas Management Company (a subsidiary of Manas International Airport OJSC). The damage to the state budget was estimated at $ 1.6 million.
Earlier in this case, Ksenia Barabash, a representative of the Turkish company, was detained. “According to the court’s decision, she will be under arrest for one month,” was reported on Twitter by the ex-Minister of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic Elvira Sarieva.
Also, ex-president of CJSC Manas Management Company Nursultan Belekov, former heads of the board of OJSC Manas International Airport Murat Primberdiev and Albek Ibraimov are also involved in the criminal case of corruption at the airport. The latter is on the run, and Nursultan Belekov was released under house arrest after a deal was concluded with the investigation.
