Kyrgyzstan: Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers was detained on the fact of extortion

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Digital Development Azamat Dyikanbaev was detained on the fact of extortion of a large bribe. This was announced by the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan.

Azamat Dyikanbaev was invited for interrogation in the case of extorting a bribe from a foreign company that is implementing the second stage of the project “Safe city” in Kyrgyzstan. Later, however, he passed from a witness to the category of a suspect.

“Based on the results of the investigative actions, on May 20, on suspicion of committing a crime under part 3 of article 326 “Extortion of a bribe” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Digital Development Azamat Dyikanbaev was detained,” the State Committee for National Security reported.

Currently, he is placed in the temporary detention center of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic.

“In the near future, Dyikanbaev will be notified of suspicion of committing this crime, and the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek will consider the issue of choosing a preventive measure against him,” the State Committee added.

It’s worth adding that earlier Azamat Dyikanbaev served as head of the State Communications Agency. After his arrival, the industry began a massive revocation of licenses for the use of frequencies. Entrepreneurs, working in the industry, have repeatedly appealed to institutions for the protection of business interests, and openly stated that the head of the State Communications Agency creates conditions for corruption and lobbies for the interests of large companies.
