Kyrgyz Interior Ministry officers beat suspect for 5 hours

Police officers of Bishkek detained a suspect in a robbery using firearms. It was reported by the General Directorate of Internal Affairs of Bishkek.

The Central Internal Affairs Directorate reported that on October 4 of the current year, a man asked the capital’s administration to take measures against unknown persons of Caucasian appearance, who on October 4, from 16:00 to 21:00, kept him involuntary in one of the apartments of high-rise building in Bishkek. He said that physical violence was used against him, and also, according to the man, he was threatened with reprisal. Having taken $3000, they released him.

Based on the application, operational search measures were conducted, as a result of which the employees were able to establish the address of the apartment where the applicant was being held.

“An urgent search was carried out at the indicated address at about 23:00. The suspect put up active resistance to police officers and rushed at the police with a knife, as a result of which fighting methods of hand-to-hand combat were applied to him,” the police department said.

However, relatives and friends of the detainee have another version of the events.

“On the night of October 4-5, at around midnight, a group of people (about 15) in masks with guns burst into the apartment of my friend Ahmed, breaking down the door. During 4-5 hours, they mocked, tortured and beat my friend. Nobody could come to help him, because nobody was allowed into the apartment,” the detainee’s girlfriend wrote on her Facebook page.

When relatives were informed about the screams and noise in the apartment, they immediately arrived at the place.

“No one could understand what was happening, they tried to help their son (brother), but they were not allowed into the apartment, they were also refused to introduce themselves and show documents. Then the relatives called the police, the officers of the department of internal affairs of Sverdlovsky district arrived, but they did not help them in any way. Through the windows they saw that Ahmed was covered in blood and they continued to beat him,” she added.

According to eyewitnesses, a man suspected of robbery was beaten for about 5 hours. The beating continued despite the arrival of police and ambulance. Then, at about 5:00 a.m., masked police officers took the battered man out and drove away in an unknown direction.

“My friend’s head is broken, internals are damaged; they cut his face, the whole body is in bruises and abrasions. The apartment is all crushed and in blood,” his neighbor wrote.

According to her, relatives on this fact appealed to the city Prosecutor’s office, to the State Committee for National Security, but they didn’t accept the application anywhere.

According to the Chief directorate of Internal Affairs, the detainee is currently placed in the temporary detention center in Bishkek.
