Kazakhstan: 33 thousand video cameras will be installed in prisons
The Committee of the Penitentiary System of Kazakhstan intends to equip all correctional institutions with digital video cameras by 2023.
According to Bibigul Munaitpasova, the head of the Department of the Committee of the Penitentiary System, about 33 thousand video cameras will be needed in order to provide full video control in Kazakhstan’s prisons.
Munaitpasova said, “This year, 13 thousand video cameras will be installed in 29 correctional institutions. Over $ 8.6 million has been allocated for these purposes. Potential suppliers will have to install not only the cameras themselves, but also all related equipment – recorders, switches, control servers, video recorders for employees of the penal system, etc.” She also noted that everyone would be able to take part in the tender for the supply of equipment.
