In Uzbekistan, a blogger was placed in a mental hospital after his arrest

On October 4, a representative of the Bagatskiy District Department of Internal Affairs of Khorezm region told reporters that Nafosat (Shabnam) Olloshukurova, who was previously sentenced to 10 days of imprisonment, is now in the regional psychoneurological clinic with a diagnosis of panic disorder. A decision on urgent hospitalization could only be made with the approval of the prosecutor.

Recall that the relatives and friends of the opposition journalist Mahmud Rajabov decided to go with him on foot to Tashkent in search of justice. By force, a group of activists was detained and on the night from 23 to 24 of September for six hours, the court delivered verdicts. The court sentenced Mahmud Rajabov and Nafosat (Shabnam) Olloshukurova to 10 days of arrest.

The father of network activist Boltaboy Olloshukurov told reporters of the Uzbek service of Radio “Svoboda” that his daughter never had a mental illness. The ACCA editorial staff has mutually exclusive information about the mental state of Nafosat, the 32-year-old mother of two twins. Under article 29 of the Administrative Code, arrest cannot be applied to women with children under the age of three. It is not yet known why this rule of the law was not applied to Nafosat.

In September, she intensively broadcasted the march of Mahmud Rajabov and his associates. “Our goal is to reach the capital and personally meet with the Minister of the Internal Affairs Pulat Babadzhanov,” said Mahmud Rajabov. “They slandered me without reason. I could not prove my innocence in Khorezm, so we decided to go to Tashkent.”

According to investigators, he is accused of smuggling books of a famous figure in Uzbek opposition, Muhammad Salih. The investigation has been going on for six months now, the journalist faces a sentence of 5 to 10 years in prison.
