In Kyrgyzstan, the number of allegations of torture decreased by 2.1%

In 2019, the Republic’s Prosecutor’s bodies carried out work on combating torture and other inhuman, cruel or degrading treatment or punishment.

In particular, more than 4.5 thousand sudden inspections were carried out, of which 191 in social facilities and 13 in medical institutions.

It is noted that according to the results of the inspections, 39 acts of prosecutorial response were made, according to them 20 officials were brought to disciplinary liability, 4 instructions of the prosecutor were satisfied

“According to the results of 2019, the number of allegations of torture decreased by 2.1% to 369. A year earlier, 377 allegations of torture were received,” the Prosecutor General’s office of the Republic informed.
