In Kyrgyzstan, police officers were detained when receiving a bribe
In the course of ongoing work to identify, prevent and combat the facts of misconduct in law enforcement agencies, officers of the Department of Internal Affairs of Ala-Buka district of Jalal-Abad region were detained while receiving a bribe.
According to the State Committee for National Security, the investigator of the Police department of Ala-Buka district, in collusion with the district police inspector of the same police department, extorted money from the Kyrgyz citizen to stop pre-trial proceedings after bodily injuries caused by a quarrel between neighbors in order to extract personal material benefits.
On this fact, on the basis of the woman’s appeal, pre-trial proceedings were started, registered in the unified register under article 326 “Extortion of a bribe” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
“In the course of investigative and operational measures, together with the Internal Investigation Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, when receiving a bribe of $500 (35 000 KGS), the mentioned officers of the Police department of Ala-Buka district were detained in red handed. Currently, they are placed in a temporary detention center in Jalal-Abad,” the State Committee for National Security said.
