In Kyrgyzstan, a corruption scheme for import and registration of right-hand drive cars was revealed

10 right-hand drive cars, illegally imported to the Republic, were confiscated in Kyrgyzstan. According to the State Committee for National Security, employees of the state institution “Transport (Unaa)” were involved in this.

As a result of operational investigative measures, the involvement of a specialist of the Inter-regional sector of Bishkek city department “Transport (Unaa)” in the corruption scheme has been established. The man acted in collusion with individuals and, for a fee, was engaged in the illegal registration of right-hand drive cars.

The specified employee, according to the sanction of the court, was placed in a pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security for 2 months.

Currently, the work is under way to establish similar facts of the legalization of vehicles in Kyrgyzstan and the involvement of other persons in illegal schemes for registering right-hand drive cars.

Note that from June 3, 2015, according to the law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On road traffic in Kyrgyzstan”, the import and registration of vehicles with a right-hand drive on the territory of the Republic is prohibited. This decision was made due to the increased number of traffic accidents involving right-hand drive cars on the roads.
