In Kazakhstan, youth demonstration was dispersed
A special detachment of police tied up activists who publicly ridiculed Nazarbaev’s words about two cows.
On August 26, a group of initiative youth went to a demonstration in the capital of Kazakhstan – Nur-Sultan. Girls and boys held posters in their hands with various inscriptions ridiculing the harsh reality in Kazakhstan. This was announced on Facebook page by Aliya Izbasarova; she was one of the participants in the demonstration.
According to her, two of the activists were dressed in a costume of cows. They had a banner in their hands, on which was written “Two cows are ready to save the country”.
The costumes and the banner were an outright mockery of the words of the first President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbaev, which he pronounced at the meeting of the Political council of his party “Nur Otan” on August 21.
“The slogans are raising: “Give me, I have many children, I have small salary. Give!” So what were you thinking? These are your problems; you didn’t consult with the state. If the state solves its tasks and gives, “No, not enough… Give more!” the first president of Kazakhstan criticized the poor, large families and other socially vulnerable segments of the population. “The unemployed were given microloans. Buy two cows and provide for yourself! Sell excess milk! Plant a garden. Take for food, sell the rest in the market! Well, what else is needed?”
Note that the “two cows” immediately gained national fame on the Internet.
For example, blogger Erzhan Turgumbai wrote that “Nazarbaev with the party’s program “Two cows” is more than ever close to the Nobel Prize in economics”.
Another blogger Sandugash Shynbolatovna thanked the Leader of the nation: “We will buy two cows and join the ranks of 30 developed countries. Grandfather Nazarbaev, thank you! And I wouldn’t think of it,” she was sarcastic.
It even went so far that Deputy Prime Minister Berdibek Saparbaev was forced to make excuses for Nazarbaev’s speech.
“You can live having 1-2 cows, but for this you need to create conditions for these cows. They complain that there is no hay and feed. If we say that there is nothing, then it will be so. No one will bring food and hay. If the cow is fed properly, it will give 7-8 liters of milk. Let’s say 2-3 liters will be for your own daily needs; from the remaining milk, you can make butter, kurt, cream. Many of us were born and grown up in the village, had cattle and garden. The question is not about “two cows”, the question is about the diligence of citizens. We want to enter the top of 30 developed countries. To do this, we must learn work from childhood, especially in villages. In turn, the state creates conditions for citizens which have to be used,” he said.
Such statements by the authorities against citizens caused a negative reaction, which prompted young people to go to the demonstration. However, it failed to bring it to the end.
“As soon as we started to unroll the banner, a representative of local authorities materialized nearby and demanded that we disperse,” Izbasarova said. “We rolled up the banner, collected the posters and nine of us moved towards the bus station to go home. But this was not enough for the “law enforcement officers”, and, as in the American action movie, two police vans blocked our way and two employees of Special Rapid Response Unit, shouting into the walkie-talkie, started pushing young guys and girls into the police vans. They inspected all our bags in the cars and confiscated the phones. They brought us to the police station. They began to interrogate 1, 2, 3 people. I was interrogated alone.”
The girl also notes that none of the police officers get around to clarify her rights and did not give a copy of the interrogation protocol for review. The police told her that if this happens again, the police will talk with the leadership of the university where Izbasarova is studying. According to her, usually after such “conversations”, the university administration will expel rioting students in a short time.
After that, the girl was fined and released home. Izbasarova intends to appeal the actions of police officers.
