In Kazakhstan, three police officers and official are suspected of corruption
In Kazakhstan, corruption fighters have another catch. This time, three law enforcement officers from Almaty region and the director of the Employment Center of the city hall of Taldykorgan got into their net.
According to the Press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, the director of the Employment Center of Taldykorgan, Gulmira Eszhanova, is suspected of giving a bribe to the chief specialist of the state audit of the Audit Commission of Almaty region. The Anti-Corruption Service added that the director of the Employment Center passed a bribe through an intermediary, who was the deputy head of the Department of employment and social programs of Taldykorgan. The amount of the bribe amounted to a little more than $1000 and was supposed to be a “gift” for making the act of planned inspection without reflecting the existing violations. A pre-trial investigation has been launched against Eszhanova.
In addition, anti-corruption fighters instituted a pre-trial investigation against three law enforcement officials.
Two of them, the acting head of the police department of Enbekshikazakh district of Almaty region and the district police inspector of Turksib district of the police department of Almaty, are suspected that “by false pretenses and abuse of the citizen’s trust, they received money in the amount of approximately $3238 under the pretext of re-qualification of the actions of the suspect into a less severe category”. The acting police chief of Enbekshikazakh district was placed in a pre-trial detention center.
The third suspect in the corruption crime is an intern of the investigative department of the district police of Karasai. According to the Anti-Corruption Service, he fraudulently seized a citizen’s money in the amount of about $6500, so that he would avoid being arrested in a criminal case under investigation by another investigator.
Recall that two weeks ago, anti-corruption fighters detained Baghdat Manzorov, deputy mayor of Almaty region. He is suspected that when he was the head of the department of state architectural and construction control in Almaty, he helped two entrepreneurs change the purpose of the land in the suburbs from commercial to individual housing construction.
As the Kazakh newspaper “Vremya” reported with reference to its sources, in exchange for this service, businessmen re-registered a lot of 0.3 hectares to Manzorov’s daughter.
