In Kazakhstan, military policeman sold positions
Another lover of bribes was identified in Kazakhstan. According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, the head of the operational response department of the military police detachment of Almaty regional garrison with the rank of lieutenant colonel demanded $2500 from a resident of Almaty for assistance in his employment in the military police and further patronage of the service.
Along with the report on the identification of the corruption crime, anti-corruption fighters also published a video of the detention of a military police officer.
The video shows how the lieutenant colonel in the presence of witnesses takes out bills of various denominations from his pockets. The employees of the Anti-Corruption Agency examine them by a special lamp and the word “bribe” appears on each bill.
The Agency also reported that no procedural detention was applied to the convicted bribe taker, since he fully admitted his guilt and requested an expedited pre-trial investigation.
Recall that the military police were created in Kazakhstan by presidential decree in April 1997 as part of the reform of the country’s law enforcement system.
The military police is a special military unit that is part of the armed forces, national security agencies and the National Guard, performing the functions of ensuring law and order in the armed forces, other troops and military units of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main tasks of the military police of Kazakhstan are to ensure law and order in the Kazakh army, and the disclosure of crimes and offenses, the search for military personnel and road safety of military vehicles. The direct heads of the military police of Kazakhstan are the ministers of defense and internal affairs, as well as the chairman of the National Security Committee.
It should be added that the base salary of military police is about $300. However, the state at the same time provides employees with quarterly bonuses, medical services for all family members, payment of housing allowances since next year, and also puts in line for housing.
