In Kazakhstan, another judge is suspected of corruption

The Anti-Corruption Agency has revealed a new fact of bribery in the judicial system of Kazakhstan.

According to the press service of the Department, the judge of Bostandyk district of Almaty was convicted of returning a bribe in the amount of $3000 through a proxy, which she had previously received for deferring a decision on a civil case.

“The Anti-Corruption Service in Almaty together with the Department of internal security and the prevention of corruption of the Supreme Court prevented the fact of bribery by a judge of Bostandyk district. On November 9, the consent of the Attorney General was obtained to continue the pre-trial investigation against the judge, who has privileges from criminal prosecution,” the statement said.

This is the second case of bribery involving Almaty judges in the last week. Just the other day in Almaty, it was completed the trial concerning the case of the former judge of the Medeu District Civil Court, Gulmira Abilkair, accused of taking bribe in the amount of $3000 (of the required $10 000) for a positive decision in a civil case related to determining the boundaries of the land plot.

Recall also that the High Judicial Council of Kazakhstan recommended dismissal for committing violations of the law in court cases, as well as for committing an offense contrary to judicial ethics.
