In Kazakhstan, an official was fined $31.000 for a bribe

The Anti-Corruption Agency in Kazakhstan has punished another one dishonest official. According to the Press service of the department, the court fined the Head of Kyzylorda State Agency for the protection of forests and wildlife Faizulla Smagulov for taking a bribe.

Faizulla Smagulov came to the attention of Anti-Corruption officers in June of this year. According to the Department of the Anti-Corruption Agency in Kyzylorda region, Smagulov received a bribe in the amount of $780 from one of his dependents for the employment and patronage of his acquaintance. It should be noted that Smagulov fully admitted his guilt, so they did not detain him for the duration of the investigation.

“The final verdict against the suspect with the determination of the degree of his guilt will be issued by the court,” the department explained then.

And now, after almost three months, the case of the Head of the Kyzylorda State Agency for the protection of forests and wildlife was considered in the court No.2 in Kyzylorda. According to the court’s verdict for receiving a bribe, the official was sentenced to a fine of $ 31.000, with life deprivation of the right to hold positions in the public service.

Recall, according to the study “Monitoring the state of corruption in Kazakhstan”, conducted by the Public fund “Transparency Kazakhstan”, Kyzylorda region was one of the leaders among the regions where corruption is most developed.
