In August, the damage from corruption crimes in Kazakhstan amounted to $1.3 million
The damage from corruption crimes (in a completed criminal investigation) in Kazakhstan amounted to $23.8 million for 8 months of 2019. As ACCA previously reported, over the past 7 months, this figure was $22.5 million. It is easy to calculate that during one month the damage from corruption to the budget of Kazakhstan increased by $ 1.3 million!
In section of crimes, the leadership in terms of damage to the economy of the country is still abused by official powers – $21.6 million ($20.8 million over the last 8 months). The excess of power or official authority is still at the second place – the damage from these crimes per month increased by $9.1 thousand and amounted to $713.4 thousand. The third place of leaders is “appropriation or embezzlement of another’s property” – $669.8 thousand (per month growth of $30.5 thousand).
As for compensation for the damage, from the amount of $23.8 million to date, the law enforcement agencies have managed to return only $18.2 million (per month – $900 thousand). And this figure, like a month ago, is 76%. It is worth noting that the appraised value of the property of the corrupt officials, which was seized, for the month also has not changed and is still equal to $4.7 million.
