Kyrgyzstan: Detection of corrupt officials decreased by 60%

In Kyrgyzstan, in the first quarter of 2022, 207 crimes were registered under the article “Abuse of official position”, 41 facts of bribery and 10 facts of abuse of power. Such data are provided by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Compared to the same period in 2021, the number of crimes under these articles decreased by an average of 60%. Most of all in Kyrgyzstan, the detection of crimes under the articles “Abuse of official position” decreased from 532 cases (in 2021) and “Abuse of power” from 61 cases.

In addition, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in January-March 2022, 11.8 thousand crimes were registered, the number of which decreased by 13% compared to the same period in 2021. The main part of the crimes were crimes against property, which accounted for about 75% of all crimes.
