Kyrgyzstan: border service officers detained for extortions at the state border

The State Committee for National Security has suppressed the stable corruption activities of the servicemen of the State Border Service of the State Committee for National Security. This was reported by the press service of the department.

Within the framework of pre-trial proceedings, registered in the Unified Register of Misdemeanors and Crimes on the grounds of a crime provided for by paragraph 3 of part 2 of article 325 “Bribe-taking by a group of persons” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, the stable corruption activities of the military personnel of the State Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic were suppressed.

It was established that officials of the Dostuk-Avtodorozhniy checkpoint, under the auspices of individual heads of the border service, systematically engaged in extortion from citizens crossing the border, mainly citizens of Uzbekistan and drivers of heavy vehicles.

“On October 19, in the course of operational and investigative measures, the head of the Dostuk-Avtodorozhniy checkpoint, the head of the Border Service Directorate of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Osh region, as well as the First Deputy Director-Chief of the General Staff of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic were detained. All detainees were placed in the temporary detention center of the Main Directorate of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic in the city of Osh and Osh region, ”the State Committee said.

The investigation of the case continues. Other circumstances and officials involved in these facts are being established.
