The State Committee for National Security has detained the head of the state enterprise “Kyrgyzkomur” Kanatbek Ashyrbaev and the accountant of the affiliated branch “Kara-Keche”. This was reported by the press service of the State Committee.
The department noted that the State Committee for National Security, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, suppressed a corruption scheme in Kyrgyzkomur in the form of theft of coal by underestimating the volume of its production.
“The leadership team of the state-owned enterprise “Kyrgyzkomur”, in order to derive benefits, created a stable corruption scheme in the sale of coal from the deposit “Kara-Keche”. Subsequently, the raw product was sold through controlled companies to various consumers, including the Heating and power plant of Bishkek. According to the results of the examination, the State Inspectorate for Energy, Mining Supervision and Industrial Safety established the fact that the volume of coal, mined by the state enterprise, was underestimated by more than 370 thousand tons in the amount of about $ 7 million (600 million KGS) per year,” the statement says.
On August 3, 2021, within the framework of the pre-trial proceedings, the director of the state enterprise “Kyrgyzkomur” Kanatbek Ashyrbaev and the accountant of the affiliated branch “Kara-Keche” were detained and placed in the temporary detention center of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic.
