Uzbekistan: authorities punished activist and his family by eviction from the house

On July 24, the authorities evicted the family of Muhammadamin Ermatov (14 people) from the house. Before that they forced the owners to sue a member of the initiative group of the new political party “Hakikat, Tarakkiyot va Birdamlik” (“Justice, Development and Solidarity”).

One of the party’s sympathizers posted a video about the eviction process by employees of the Bureau of the Execution of Punishments of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the country. The dissident lived in his friend’s house with his loved ones for 15 years. Even after his death, the owner’s relatives didn’t insist to leave the house. The authorities forced them to take this step because of Ermatov’s activities in creating a new opposition party.

After considering the cases in two instances, the Bureau of the Execution of Punishments executed the court’s decision. The political activist explains the forced eviction by his political activities.

The party “Hakikat, Tarakkiyot va Birdamlik” (“Justice, Development and Solidarity”) is trying to start the registration process after the Ministry of Justice refused to recognize the right to it of the former party “Hakikat va Tarakkiyot” (“Justice and Development”). Since the beginning of the year, the activists have been harassed by the security services, inciting provocateurs against the oppositionists.

On July 27, bailiffs confiscated all household appliances from the head of the JDS initiative group, Khidirnazar Allakulov. On May 4, the District Court of Yunusabad found the politician guilty of libel and sentenced him to a fine of $ 470. Allakulov claims that the libel case was opened because of the statement filed by his attackers on March 31.

On July 15, the District Court of Yashnabad of Tashkent imposed an administrative arrest for 15 days to Ozodbek Kurbanov, a blogger of YouTube channel “Kuch birdamlikda”. According to activists, at the trial they said that the blogger “resisted a representative of the authorities” and “insulted” a law enforcement officer. The blogger covered the process of submitting a collective application of the party “Hakikat va Tarakkiyot” to the Constitutional Court of Uzbekistan.
