Kyrgyzstan: police officers were detained on the fact of extortion of bribes

The State Committee for National Security, together with the Internal Investigation Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, detained the employees of the Internal Affairs Department of Sokoluk region red-handed while receiving a bribe.

The deputy head of the Internal Affairs Department of Sokoluk region, a police colonel, in collusion with an investigator, a police captain and a district commissioner, a senior police lieutenant, extorted money for a positive termination of pre-trial proceedings.

The officers of the Internal Affairs Department were caught red-handed while receiving a bribe in the amount of $ 1,000.

“On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Article 326 “Extortion of a bribe” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The deputy chief of the Internal Affairs Department of Sokoluk region for pre-trial proceedings and the district police officer were detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic for further investigation,” the State Committee reported.
