Kazakhstan: another official was caught taking bribe

A bribe in the amount of $ 33.5 thousand was received by the head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Industrial Development of Almaty region, Tamerlan Razbekov, from a construction company, and was caught red-handed.

According to the Anti-Corruption Agency, the money already received by the official was only the first tranche. According to the agreement, the total amount of the bribe was supposed to be about $ 210,000.

For this money, the head of the business department promised the director of a construction company to win a tender for the construction of an object being built within the framework of the state program for support and development of entrepreneurship “Business road map-2025”. According to the project documentation, the cost of the facility is about $ 1.5 million.

In addition to winning the tender, the official promised the bribe-giver unhampered approval of the object.

The head of the department and the director of the construction company were detained by employees of the Anti-Corruption Agency at the time of the transfer of the bribe. Now both suspects have been placed in a temporary detention center. The question of a further measure of suppression is being resolved.

It’s worth noting that Tamerlan Razbekov took over as head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Industrial and Innovative Development of Almaty region in June last year.
