Kazakhstan: one more officials were convicted of corruption

Since the beginning of the year, 817 cases of corruption offenses have been initiated in Kazakhstan, 759 of them have already been sent to court. At the same time, 93 officials were detained in criminal cases, 86 officials were taken into custody, and a measure of restraint “house arrest” was chosen against another 22 officials. Such data were reported by the Anti-Corruption Agency.

According to the investigator for especially important cases Daniyar Bigaidarov, 452 people have been convicted on corruption criminal cases since the beginning of the year. Of these, 111 – for taking a bribe, 200 – for giving a bribe, 64 – for fraud, 25 – for embezzlement, 28 – for abuse of office, the rest – for abuse of power.

At the same time, 132 of the convicts were sentenced to imprisonment, 42 people received restrictions on freedom, 269 people got off with fines. The total amount of fines was $ 3.2 million.

So, at the end of June, according to Bigaidarov, the head of the Chimkent branch of the Center for Medicine and Disasters under the Ministry of Emergency Situations Madi Khairulaev was sentenced to a fine of $ 65.2 thousand. He was suspected of receiving a bribe in the amount of $ 1.6 thousand for the employment of a candidate for the post of medical assistant.

In addition, at the end of June, several officials in Almaty region were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment for embezzlement of budget funds in the amount of more than $ 216,000.

The head of the hydrogeological-meliorative expedition of Kyzylorda under the Ministry of Agriculture Karzhov Kulambayev and his deputy paid with their posts for fictitious travel expenses in the amount of just over $ 1,000.

In addition, in Kyzylorda region, the first deputy head of the police department of Kyzylorda city, Major Ermek Kudaibergenov, and the head of the local police service of the police department of Kyzylorda city, lieutenant colonel A. Esenbayev were sentenced to fines for bribery.
