Kyrgyzstan: police colonel was detained for extortion

In Kyrgyzstan, an investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was detained on the fact of extortion of a bribe. It’s clarified that the colonel demanded money for the termination of the criminal prosecution against the person, who was involved in the criminal case.

The police colonel was detained in his office while receiving a bribe in the amount of $ 500. The operative arrest was carried out by employees of the State Committee for National Security in conjunction with the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

On this fact, the State Committee for National Security began pre-trial proceedings under article 326 “Extortion of a bribe” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

“The detainee was placed in the temporary detention center of the State Committee for National Security under the article 98 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Kyrgyzstan. An investigation is underway,” the State Committee said.
